Guru Purnima

Happy Guru Purnima – the perfect time to bring in prosperity and abundance!

Guru is the name for the planet Jupiter in Sanskrit, and Purnima is full moon. This full moon is called Guru Purnima and it’s a great time for all spiritual seekers, all of us that want to grow and learn, those that need the support of the teacher, and an important time to give thanks. Jupiter is the planet that sustains us, that gives us the resources to grow.

Real prosperity is that inner gold, the gold that lights our way. A guru or teacher can help us tap into that source within us. The word Guru also means the heavy. A teacher is grounded and able to help sustain the student as they learn and grow toward the heavens. For all our lessons in life we have a teacher. Their wisdom has helped shape our lives, from achievements to mistakes. A teacher is there for us.

Guru also means one who dispels darkness. The moon represents our minds and emotions. Guru Purnima brings the two together in harmony and gives us the opportunity to reset our course, to taste the sweet benefits of our inner practice, and to learn to calm our minds and emotions.

And it’s a good thing we are getting back in the flow of practice (especially if we’ve been on a break) because Saturn the planet of karma goes into retrograde on the 13th - so those big lessons that you’ve been putting off or not wanting to look at are going to come knocking again.

How do we last until November!? Practice, learn, grow, practice...

1. Keep a daily schedule (time to rise, go to bed, self-care)

2. Eat regular meals (cooked and nutritious)

3. Practice Hatha Yoga to help keep your physical body in shape

4. Meditate and practice Mantra (Prayer)
