What’s all this about a Lunar Eclipse?

You’ve probably heard that there’s a significant event in the sky this week, so I thought I would share a few things that you may not know about it. It happens March 13, when the moon is full, just before 11pm, and ends around 3am on March 14. But that’s not the only time that we can feel the effects.

It’s kind of a big deal. The light we see on the moon is a reflection of the sun’s light. In Jyotish (Vedic Astrology) the sun symbolizes our soul and the connection to the great soul. The moon represents our mind and emotions. In us, the relationship between the sun and the moon allows the soul to be reflected in our thoughts and feelings. It’s beautiful. 

During an eclipse however, the Earth passes in-between the sun and the moon, blocking the light. The moon is left untethered, dark. The mind is left to run amok! It can fill with worry, fear, anxiety, separation, and all kinds of unproductive thoughts that are far from the truth – that we are not alone, that we are loved.

You may already be feeling these anxious feelings. You may already experience disturbed sleep. You may have a prominent moon in your chart that could amplify these thoughts and emotions.

The answer? Do not make any big decisions around this time. Wait a few days. Do not engage in an argument – it could get blown out of proportion. Know that your thoughts are not always the truth right now. Wait. Meditate. Go inward. It is said that what you do during the eclipse is amplified 100 times. So do spiritual practice. Practice LOVE.

The more we refine the mind, the greater the access to the truth of our soul.
