
The Spring Equinox
Spring is approaching, so this is a great time to start to think about new rituals. This is a time of renewal and rebirth for all cycles, offering awakening, warmth, and growth. Kapha predominates during this time, as the forces of earth and water are strongest. Pitta emerges in later spring as the sun begins to peak.
Here are some Ayurvedic rituals to add to your routine for this time of year:
• Melt your inner snow (excess mucus) with heating practices and activities like exercising outside or taking steamy baths
• Eat a cleansing diet - avoid sweets, dairy, and wheat and favor lighter foods that are bitter, astringent, and pungent
• Wake up one hour before sunrise and increase circulation with dry brushing and massage
• Drink warm water with lemon and ginger first thing in the morning
